Collin County remodeling
Interior renovations for older and newer Collin County homes
Everett Home Pros provides home remodeling in Collin County with a focus on interiors: kitchens, custom cabinetry, built-ins, flooring, and the walls and paint that tie a renovation together. We coordinate every trade ourselves, so you are never left managing the cabinetmaker, the painter, and the flooring installer on your own.
Collin County homes tend to fall into two groups. Much of Plano was built out from the 1970s through the 1990s, and many of those interiors still reflect their era. To the north, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Prosper, and Celina have grown quickly, and many of their homes are recent builds with builder-grade finishes. The first group usually needs modernizing; the second usually needs personalizing.
Modernizing
What updating a 1980s or 1990s interior usually involves
Every house is different, but the same handful of features come up again and again when a Collin County homeowner asks us to make an older interior feel current.
Kitchen cabinets that set the era
Oak builder cabinets can be painted, refaced, or replaced. Interior painting covers cabinet refinishing when the boxes are sound.
Heavy textures and popcorn ceilings
Smoother walls and ceilings change how light moves through a room. Our drywall work includes smooth finishes and texture matching.
Formal rooms nobody uses
A front living or dining room can become a study or library, often with built-in shelves that make it feel intentional.
A different floor in every room
Carpet, tile, and vinyl meeting at every doorway make a home feel chopped up. Continuous flooring is one of the clearest modern updates.
A dated fireplace wall
Brick or tile can usually be refaced rather than removed, with a new mantel in proportion to the ceiling height.
Lighting that only lights the middle of the room
Task lighting where you actually work, handled by licensed trades, does as much for a kitchen as new counters.
Custom cabinetry
Where custom cabinetry earns its cost
Stock cabinetry is built for a standard room, and most rooms are not standard. Custom cabinets are measured to the room as it actually is, so they make sense wherever a width is awkward, a ceiling is tall enough to use, or a corner would otherwise be wasted.
Kitchens, pantries, and islands
Full runs of cabinetry and pantry storage sized to what you keep, often as part of a larger kitchen remodel. Cabinetry is usually the single largest line in a kitchen budget, so it is where honest advice matters most.
Laundry rooms, mudrooms, and media walls
Benches and lockers by the garage door, laundry storage that hides the clutter, and media cabinetry that conceals equipment while keeping it reachable.
When stock or semi-custom is the better call
Custom is not always worth it. Where a stock or semi-custom line would give you the same result for less, we will say so before you commit.
New construction
Personalizing a newer home in Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, or Celina
New construction often arrives with open plans, neutral finishes, and very little built-in storage. That is a good starting point, and the most useful early projects add character and function rather than tearing anything out: a built-in wall around the fireplace, a mudroom bench where the builder left bare drywall, a garage organized before it fills up, or upgraded flooring through the main living areas.
If your home is still under a builder warranty, read its terms before changing anything the warranty covers. We would rather you know that before work begins than discover it afterward.
Design decisions
Design choices to settle before the work starts
These are the decisions that most affect cost, lead time, and how a renovation looks in five years. We talk them through at the walkthrough, including narrowing paint colors in your actual light.
- Painted or stained cabinetry, and the wood species underneath if it is stained
- Door style and hardware, which shift both material and labor costs
- Drawer slides and hinges, where the cheap option is the one you notice every day
- Whether new cabinetry has to match millwork already in the house
- Counter material, and how much fabrication the layout requires
- Whether flooring runs continuously between rooms or stops at thresholds

FAQ
Collin County remodeling questions, answered
If the boxes are sound and the layout works, painting or refacing can modernize a kitchen for far less. If the layout is the problem, or the cabinets are failing, replacement is usually the better investment. We look at the cabinets with you and lay out each option in the written estimate.
Often, yes. Matching an existing painted finish is more reliable than matching an aged stain, and we will tell you up front which one you are dealing with.
Yes. We work room by room, cover floors and furniture, and contain the dust. In homes built before the 1980s, ceiling texture can contain asbestos, so have it tested before it is disturbed.
Start with what bothers you daily, which for most new homeowners is storage. Built-in shelving, mudroom cabinetry, and garage storage tend to make the biggest difference for the money.
