Drywall repair that disappears into the wall

A drywall repair is only finished when you cannot tell where it was. That means matching the existing texture, which is the part most repairs get wrong, and carrying the paint far enough that the patch does not read as a lighter rectangle on the wall. We also want to know why the drywall failed, because patching over an active leak or a moving foundation just buys a few months.

What it covers

What every drywall repair includes.

Finding the cause first
Water, settlement, and impact damage look different and are fixed differently. We identify which one you have before repairing it.
Cutting back and patching
Damaged board removed back to something sound, backed properly, and patched so the drywall repair does not telegraph later.
Taping and finishing
Taped, floated, and sanded through the coats the repair actually needs rather than the fewest we can get away with.
Texture matching
Knockdown, orange peel, and hand textures matched to the surrounding wall, which is where most drywall repair gives itself away.
Ceilings and water damage
Ceiling repairs, including the stain-blocking that keeps a water mark from bleeding back through the new paint.
Priming and painting
The repaired area primed and painted, carried to a natural break so there is no visible halo around the patch.

Scope and cost

What moves the number.

We do not quote a price before seeing the home. These are the things that change it, and we will tell you which ones apply to yours at the walkthrough.

  • Whether the underlying cause has been resolved, since we will not patch over an active leak

  • How large the damaged area is, and whether the drywall repair crosses a seam or a corner

  • Which texture the home has, because some are far harder to match than others

  • Whether the repair can be spot-painted or the wall needs painting corner to corner

  • Ceiling work, which takes longer and needs more protection than wall work

Common questions

Questions we are asked.

That is the goal, and texture matching is the part that decides it. On some textures a spot repair will always catch the light slightly, and where that is the case we will tell you before starting and give you the option of painting wall to wall.

Let’s talk about your project.

Tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you honestly what it takes, what it costs, and whether we are the right company for it.
