Overview

Interior transformations in northern Dallas County

Everett Home Pros provides home remodeling in the northern suburbs of Dallas County: Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, Coppell, north Irving, and North Dallas. Most of what we do here is interior work that changes how an entire house feels, starting with the floors and walls and extending to kitchens, bathrooms, and custom cabinetry.

Much of this part of the county was built well before the growth further north. Farmers Branch and parts of Carrollton have many homes from the 1960s and 1970s, Coppell grew mainly through the 1980s and 1990s, and Addison has a large share of townhomes. Homes that have changed hands several times often carry a patchwork of earlier updates, and bringing them back to one consistent standard is the job.

Flooring

New floors for older homes, and what happens underneath

The floor is the largest continuous surface in a house, so replacing it changes every room it runs through. Most of the result is decided before the first plank goes down, which is why our flooring installation starts with the slab.

Choosing a material for a slab home

Hardwood and engineered wood bring warmth. Luxury vinyl plank is a practical choice for households with pets and children and for slab-on-grade construction. Tile suits kitchens, baths, and laundry rooms, and we install tile floors as full-room upgrades rather than patchwork.

Subfloor and moisture checks

How flat the slab is, and whether it shows moisture, decides which materials will work and is the most common source of surprise cost. We check both before recommending a floor, not after it is ordered.

Transitions, trim, and stairs

Thresholds, stair nosing, and baseboard are handled so the new floor meets each doorway cleanly instead of being finished with a strip of quarter-round. Where existing hardwood is worth saving, refinishing can be the better choice.

Walls and paint

Walls, trim, and paint brought back to one standard

Older homes tend to show their history on the walls: patched holes, mismatched textures, settlement cracks, and trim painted so many times the detail has softened. Our drywall repair matches knockdown, orange peel, and hand textures so patches disappear, and we find out why a wall cracked before we cover it.

Then interior painting finishes the job, with the filling, sanding, and caulking done before the first finish coat. We sequence drywall, paint, flooring, and trim so each trade does not undo the last one’s work.

Older homes

Before you remodel a 1960s or 1970s home

Older houses reward careful planning. These are the points worth knowing before demolition starts.

  • Plumbing, wiring, and subfloors can hold surprises once walls and floors are opened, so the written estimate states the assumptions we made and what could change the price.
  • A modern kitchen may need more electrical capacity than the original panel and circuits provide.
  • Homes built before 1978 may have lead-based paint, and ceiling or wall textures from that era can contain asbestos. Both are worth testing before anything is sanded or removed.
  • Decades of settling can leave walls and openings out of square, which affects how new cabinetry, trim, and flooring are fitted.
  • Anything unexpected is raised as soon as we find it, and priced and approved before work continues.

Townhomes

Renovating a townhome in Addison or North Dallas

In townhome communities, exterior changes are usually controlled by the HOA, so renovations focus on the inside: kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, paint, and custom cabinets that make the most of a narrower footprint.

Shared walls mean dust and noise travel further, so protection and containment matter even more than in a detached house, and we tell you ahead of time which days will be the most disruptive.
