Tile floor installation for full rooms and whole floors

We take on tile floor installation as a room-level or whole-floor upgrade rather than as patch work. That is a deliberate choice: tile is unforgiving, and the parts that decide whether it lasts happen before any tile is set, in the flatness of the subfloor, the movement joints, and the layout decisions that determine where cuts land. Those are worth doing properly across a whole room, and they are difficult to do well one square at a time.

What it covers

What our tile floor installation includes.

Removal of existing tile
Demolition and disposal with dust contained, which matters more with tile than with almost any other floor.
Subfloor preparation
Leveling and, where needed, an uncoupling membrane, which is what keeps a tile floor installation from cracking later.
Layout planning
Setting out the field before any tile floor installation begins, so full tiles land where the eye goes and cuts land where they do not.
Setting and grouting
Consistent coverage and joints, plus movement joints where the floor actually needs them.
Transitions and trim
Thresholds and baseboard handled so the tile meets adjacent flooring at the right height.

Scope and cost

What moves the number.

We do not quote a price before seeing the home. These are the things that change it, and we will tell you which ones apply to yours at the walkthrough.

  • How flat the existing subfloor is, and how much leveling that implies

  • Tile format, since large formats need flatter substrates and small mosaics need more labor

  • Pattern, where a diagonal or herringbone layout adds cutting and waste

  • Whether the tile floor installation is on slab or on a framed subfloor

  • Whether the tile continues between rooms or stops at a threshold

Common questions

Questions we are asked.

We keep small tile repairs for existing clients as part of an ongoing relationship, alongside the rest of our home repair work. For new projects we focus on full-room and whole-floor tile floor installation, which is where the preparation work can be done properly.
